Sample Requests for JFAST open now (Deadline: March 20)

Request Samples from IODP Japan Trench Fast Drilling Project (JFAST) Expedition

Sample requests are being accepted for the JFAST expedition now. JFAST is targeting the near-trench fault zone and is planning on recovering core near the region of extremely large (~50 m) slip during the Tohoku Earthquake. As an IODP project, samples are open to the whole community with priority generally given to shipboard scientists. The ship sets sail April 1.

Full expedition details can be read at: http://publications.iodp.org/scientific_prospectus/343/.

To receive full consideration, please submit your sample request by March 20. We encourage all scientists interested in receiving either data or core samples from this expedition to register on the Sample Material Curation System (SMCS www.smcs.iodp.org:8080/smcs/) and submit their sample requests as soon as possible. Please contact Sean Toczko with any technical difficulties in submission ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
